Birthday Card

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I hope everybody enjoyed Cinco de Mayo yesterday. I am from Mexico City, and I wanted to share what Cinco de Mayo is really about.  It is not Mexico’s independence day as some think which is actually September 16, 1810.  As for May 5, 1862, El Día de la Batalla de Puebla (The Day of the Battle of Puebla), is important for several reasons, first it was a victory by the outnumbered and under equipped Mexican Army of 4000 over the better equipped French Army of 8000 that has not been defeated in over 50 years. Second since this battle no country in the Americas has even been invaded by a European Army every again.  Lastly, the reason why this battle was important to the United States is this victory kept Napoleon III from supplying the confederate army for the next year, allowing the Union Army to grow strong which lead to the eventual defeat of the south in the US Civil War 14 months after this battle.  Anyway, enough of the history lessons you are here to learn how to make this Birthday card, so let us get on with it. 

In this post I am going to show you the steps for the parts of the Birthday card where I used the the Kreaxions tools. I hope you will enjoy making it as much as I did. How To Make The Lace Border

1. Cut a 5 ¼” by 1 ½” strip from cream card stock
2. Line up the  Kreaxions 307 Punch with the right short edge of the strip
   1. Now only bring strip far enough into the punch so that the small tip of the lace under the flower is just above the bottom of the strip.
   2. Once aligned make the first punch
3. Slide the strip to the right and align the pattern so only half of the pattern is visible, using the flower middle as your guide to help keep is straight
    
4. Punch and repeat step 4 until you have a total of four punches
5. The five punches should fill the strip
6. If the bottom excess is still attached, carefully remove it
    

Optional Step

1. Add a little shadow to the edges using the a color that will accent well with card.

How to make the Butterflies

1. Use the  Kreaxions Punch 604 Butterfly to punch 4 butterflies from brown cardstock
2. Only on 2 of the butterflies use a finger from under each wing to roll a slight curve into each wing
3. Take the other 2 butterflies that are still flat and glue them into their position on the card
4. Now with the 2 butterflies with the curved wings glue them carefully to the flat butterflies on the card at their thorax (center body)

Optional Steps

1. Apply a little Inkssentials White Enamel Accents to the body and head of each butterfly now allow them to dry (takes about 2 hours)

Precious Angel Card

Its time again to post over here at the blog and I have a fun tutorial for you to create a baby carriage to put on a layout, card or on altered piece like a banner. I used it for my sister-in-law who had my niece in March.

In my project the tools I used are Kreaxions Circle Cutter, Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch - 904 Circle (with template A) and Kreaxions Star Stencil Octagon.

Here is my card:

Supplies

1- 4 inch circle

2- 1 inch circles

2- 1/2 inch circles

Strip of Pattern Paper

Star Stencil Template

Punch 904 using Template A

Adhesive

Buttons or Brads

 

Step One:Take your large circle and use the hole in the center as your mark to make marks t remove a section of the circle shown here (sorry for the blurry photos)

Step Two:Grab your star stencil and punch 904 using template A. Start on one of the tips and punch all around. There will be scraps around it so just trim them off.

Step Three:Adhere glue to the circle shown here and then add the doily on top. Bring it over till some of it is on the circle and the rest hanging. Trim the excess off to gret ruffles on the carriage.

Step Four:Take your small circles and glue them together then add buttons on top of it. Then add them to the carriage to create wheels on it.

Step Five:Take the strip of paper trim the top a bit to create a handle for the carriage and adhere it to the back. You are done to add the piece to your project.

I love how it turned out and I will making another one for my brother and his wife when my nephew is due in June.

Wedding Book

Happy Earth Day Everyone!

My cousin Zanya was just married to a wonderful man named Dominic and I made this Wedding Book for them to place all their wedding memories in.  I used my favorite Kreaxion punches from Just Imagine and I am going to show you the steps for those parts. • Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch - 901 Butterfly 901

How To Make The Frame

 

1. Cut a 7” x 7” piece of cardstock 
2. Line up on the corner the  Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch - 901 Butterfly 901 using insert B 
3. Cut all 4 corners of the 7”x 7” piece of cardstock
4. Turn the frame over to the backside
5. With a pencil measure and mark the center of each side
6. Then mark 1 3/4" from the center mark in both directions on each side.
7. You should now have three centered marks on each side as shown in image above
8. Turn  Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch - 901 Butterfly 901 upside down
9. Slide the piece of cardstock all the say into the punch and make sure the lines are visible
10. Very carefully align one of the lines using the center of the flower as guide 
11. Punch each of the marks on each side

 

Optional Step

1. Add a little shadow of the edges using the a color that will accent well with the flowers and paper to be placed in the frame.

How to make the Butterflies

1. Use the  Kreaxions Punch 604 Butterfly to punch 13 butterflies with white cardstock
2. Use a finger from under each wing to roll a curve into each wing

Optional Steps

1. Instead of white cardstock use a pre-glittered cardstock of your choice
2. Apply a little Inkssentials White Enamel Accents to the body and head of each butterfly
3. Set them assign to dry (takes about 2 hours)
4. Once they have dried you can apply them to the frame

Best Friend

Happy Easter to Everyone!

Today I am going to show you the steps for the parts of the Best Friend card where I used the Kreaxions tools. I loved working with the punches and doing double punches create a lace accent. If you want to know more about the parts of the card not discussed in this post feel free to ask in the comments and I will be more than happy help.

How To Make The Lace Accent

1. Cut a 4” x 1 ½” strip of cream paper
2. Line up the Kreaxions 307 Punch using insert A
3. Slide the strip to the right and align the pattern so only half of the pattern is visible and make the punch
    
4. Repeat step 3 until you have a total of 4 punches
5. Use a pencil and draw lines halfway between each of the flower punch on the back of the strip of paper
6. Turn the punch upside down and and align the sinter of the flower along the lines and punch at each line
    
7. Use scissors to snip away the bottom if needed

Optional Step

1. Add a little shadow of the edges using the a color similar to the background you are going to attach the accent to

How to make the Butterflies

1. Find a pattern butterfly stamp that you like
2. Stamp a section of light blue paper using a slightly darker ink than the paper 
3. Turn the Kreaxions Punch 604 Butterfly upside down and line up with the pattern and punch it
    
4. Repeat previous step to create a second butterfly
5. Use a finger from under each wing to roll a curve into each wing

Optional Steps

1. Instead of a pattern butterfly stamp you could use a patterned light blue paper of your choice
2. Add a little shadow of the wings using the same color you use to stamp the butterfly
3. Apply a little Inkssentials black Enamel Accents to the body and head of each butterfly
4. Set them assign to dry (takes about 2 hours)
5. Once they have dried you can apply them to the card

Tiny Bubbles...Make Me Happy!

{tiny bubbles}This pretty pink layout is of my adorable niece, Alanna...who is much older now, but still just as adorable.  I have started layering brightly coloured cardstock on top of Kraft Paper to make it pop!  All of the beautiful paper is My Mind’s Eye.  I have drawn out and hand cut the large ‘photo corners’ and then have used Plate ‘C’ with the Kreaxions 3in1 Punch #306 to add some wonderful detail.  The large circle has been cut with my {new} best scrappy friend, the Kreaxions Circle Cutter {there is an amazing tutorial HERE}.  I altered some Thickers Chipboard Alphas for the title {tutorial here}, using Tim Holtz Distress Inks and some homemade misters then added a few extra odds and ends for some finishing details!  Hope all of your days are Great!

Spring Is In The Air

Hello Everyone!

Today I am going to show you the steps for the parts of the Spring Is In The Air card where I used the the Kreaxions tools. I love the Butterfly Die because it’s big enough to actually do something fun with. How To Make The Border

1. Cut a 4 ¼” by 2” strip of black paper
2. Line up the Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch - 910 Vinca with the right short edge of the strip
3. Once aligned make the first punch
4. Slide the strip to the right and align the pattern so only half of the pattern is visible and make the punch
5. Repeat step 4 until you have a total of five punches
6. The five punches should fill the strip
7. Use a pencil and draw lines between each of the angles (recommend white to be easier to see)Turn the punch upside down and punch in the areas where you draw your lines
   

Optional Step

1. Save the punch pieces and use to decorate the corners of the card and the butterfly

How to make the Butterfly

1. Use the Butterfly Die and cut a Butterfly with a cream piece of card stock
2. Embossed stamp of your choice with black embossing powder
3. Paint the flowers with watercolor pencils

1. Use the saved punch pieces from the border and place in each corner of the wings

Joy Is Where You Find It

Hello Everyone!

My name is Leslie and this is my first post for Just Imagine Crafts. I was really lucky to be able to attend the stamping convention last weekend on Mesa, Arizona and meet Roberta. She is the nicest person and was so kind to give me a little tutorial on all the punches and tools that Just Imagine Crafts has. I’m impress with all the versatility one punch can make and of course I am now going to have to buy more punches.

In this post I am going to show you the steps for the parts of the Joy Is Where You Find It card where I used the the Kreaxions tools. I hope you will enjoy making it as much as I did. How To Make The Butterflies

1. Use the Kreaxions Punch 604 Butterfly to punch two butterflies from blue card stock
2. Use a finger from under each wing to roll a curve into each wing

Optional Steps

1. Add a little shadow to the wings using a stamp pad to darken
2. Apply a little Inkssentials black Enamel Accents to the body and head of each butterfly
3. Set them assign to dry (takes about 2 hours)
4. Once they have dried you can apply them to the card

Accenting Tip

When applying accents like Enamel or Glitter remember they need time to dry. If possible do them ahead of time on pieces that can be done separate and let them dry before apply to the final product, or if you need or want to apply directly to the project itself wait until everything else is done and do them last. Then allow time to dry before you handling the project. This will help avoid accidental touching the wet accents while working on the project.

How to make the Doily

1. Use the 6.8 cm circle on Stencil ‘A’ from the Kreaxions Plastic Stencils for Circle Punching to set the size of the Circle Cutter
2. Using the Kreaxions Circle Cutter to cut a 6.8 cm circle on a piece of pastel yellow card stock
3. Choose which side to make visible and then flip it over to the back side
4. Align Stencil ‘A’ guides with the circle
5. Using the guides draw 8 pencil lines around the circle by using every other line
6. Turn Kreaxions 307 Punch upside down
7. Slide the circle all the way into the punch make sure the lines are visible
8. Very carefully align one of the lines using the center of the flower as a guide and the point of the large diamond to keep it straight
9. Slowly push down on the punch until it is holding the paper but not punching the hole this will help keep it aligned and gives one last chance to make corrections
10. Once it is aligned complete the punch
11. Rotate to the next line and repeat steps 8 and 9 until you have five flowers punched in sequence on the circle. Leaving the last three lines unpunched
12. Remove the circle and flip it back over to the front side and you now have the visible portions of the doily.

Optional Steps

1. Add a little shadow using a stamp pad to darken the edge of the doily
2. Glue a small half pearl to the stem under each flower

• Kreaxions Plastic Stencils for Circle Punching (Stencil 'A')
• Kreaxions Circle Cutter to 10 inch

Doily Tip

You can use these steps to create many different doilies by adjusting the size of the circle and the using another Kreaxions punch.

How to make the Lotus Flowers

 

1. Use the Kreaxions Punch 603 Lotus to punch four flowers from red card stock
2. On two of the flowers roll the flowers inward
3. Take one of the rolled flowers and glue the bottom of its center to the top of the center of one of the unrolled flowers making sure to rotate the flower to show alternating petals

Optional Steps

1. Add a little shadow to only the tips of the pedals using a stamp pad to darken the edges
2. Glue some small yellow beads to the center to make the anthers

How to make the Lace Border

  

1. Cut a 4 ¼ by 1 ½ strip from a pink checkered pattern paper
2. Line up the Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch - 901 Butterfly with the the right short edge of the strip and only bring strip far enough into the punch so that the small tip of the lace under the butter fly is just above the bottom of the strip.
3. Once aligned make the first punch
4. Slide the strip to the right and align the pattern so only half of the pattern is visible, using the butterfly middle as you guide to help keep it straight
5. Punch and repeat step 4 until you have a total of four punches
6. The four punches should fill the strip

Optional Steps

1. Glue a small half pearl to the middle of each point on the bottom of the lace
2. Add a lace ribbon to the top of the board

Fantastic Friday

Hello Everyone

My name is Lucy and so excited this is my first post here at the blog as designer :)

It was alot of fun using some of the punches I recieved in my DT box especially the circle cutter. Holy Spinach Batman! I love it and its my new friend.

In this layout I used my BF Kreaxions Circle Cutter and the flower was created using Kreaxions 304 Punch using insert C. I also added a tutorial on how I made the flower.

Step by Step Tutorial by Lucy Chesna

Step One: Cut 4 squares out of patterned paper or cardstock(4 x 4, 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, 3 x 3 and 2 1/2 x 2 1/2), punch the corners of each square.

Step Two: Fold each square to create four small squares on the paper; then cut at the score part byt leave 1/4 inch before the center.

Step Three: Take one side of the square and fold it in to create a kit like shape and you want to repeat that on the other side. You want to do that to all the squares and they will look like the picture above.

Step Four: Assemble the pieces starting with the largest one and work up; punch a small hole in the middle and attach a brad to keep it all together. You can add a smaller brad so you can another kind of embellishment in the middle like bling.

Its alot of fun and you can any punch for this tutorial.

The Doily Accent

I see Doily shapes everywhere in art and I love it. 

So I made one for my card with a Kreaxions 4-in-1 punch that I wanted to share today.  It took me a few minutes and I just love the result.  I will show you how I did it later in this post. My cut out circle is done with the Kreaxions circle cutter.

Here is a close-up. I punched it out of a Kraft colored cardstock and I added some brown ink to the edges with a Distress stamp pad.  The patterned paper is by BasicGrey.  The little butterfly is also a Kreaxions punch, I coated it with Glossy Accent after I punched it and I made sure the wings were shapes upwards as it dried.

Here is a glimpse as to how I created the doily.  I used the star template by Kreaxions. This is so handy, just trace it on paper and cut it out.  I then used the 904 4-in-1 punch without any of the additional plates.  I centered the punch over each of the points of the star and punched it.  I thne took my scissors to clip the little piece that joins each of the punched out pieces.

Punched Border Circle

Hello everyone!  Today I'm featuring the MOST AWESOME Kreaxions Circle Cutter and the SUPER FUN Kreaxions Positioning Parts. Sometimes I really would love to have a shaped edge on my circles and the Kreaxions Positioning Parts paired with just the right Kreaxions 4-in-1 punch gives me all the variety I need!  On this page I used Kreaxions 4-in-1 Punch #310.  The positioning parts are quite easy to use.  First cut your circle to the size you want.  Remember, the Kreaxions Circle Cutter cuts up to 10"!  Then choose your punch.  Depending on the shape you want for your edges on the circle, choose one of the positioning parts. I used a 3" circle and the 5cm positioning parts for this example.

Place the pieces on the template and start punching like normal!  You can "eyeball" where you want to place your punch or you can use the fabulous Kreaxions Stencils to position your punch.  On this circle I used the Stencils.  Each punch will give you a different edge so play around to see which one works best for your project. 

You can use the same positioning parts and punch to do the inner circle as well. 

The picture is of my DH and two of my grandsons last summer at the beach.  It’s one of my all time fav pics!  I used a sketch from My Scraps & More but altered it just a bit.  I also tried a new technique – using embossing powder with Crystal Lacquer.  (I had run out of puffy stuff and cotton would have been too much so I thought I’d try it.)  Other than melting my picture a bit (which makes it look more watery) it worked great!  And I have the puffy effect I was looking for. 
Materials – Sketch - ; Cardstock – Bazzill, CTMH; Patterned Paper – DCWV; Wavy Cutter – Creative Memories; Letter Stickers – Alphabitties; Embossing Powder – Stampin Stuff; Sand, Glitter – Magic Scraps; Brads – Making Memories; Pen – Sakura Gel Roll
