Happy Saturday!  Today's card is brought to you by this month's DT color inspiration and sketch challenge( Found Here).

I used the Lattice Die as the background and the Heart 4 in 1 Punch as a border punch to create this card...it's not hard when you have great inspiration such as the color challenge and the sketch challenge to pull a card together quickly!  Hope you'll play along with us this month, and if you do, be sure to share on our Facebook Page or share the link to the thread above.  Have a great weekend and happy creating!

I DARE YOU!!!

Hello everyone!  This is Ginni.  Today I’m featuring a two page layout. The pictures tell a story about how my husband swung my grandson just a wee bit too hard in a hammock and Noah fell out.  He wasn’t hurt, just a bit shaken up thankfully, but the pictures are priceless to me.  So I used my June sketch for the left side, then changed it up a bit for the right side.  As you can see on my border punch, I used Kreaxions Punch #916 without any templates.  I simply punched alternating from the top and from the bottom of the paper to give the border some interest.  Then I used the “arrows” that were cut away for my journaling pointers.  The butterflies (Kreaxions Punch #604) give the layout some direction and interest, and of course all the circles were cut with the AMAZING Kreaxions Circle Cutter.  I used my computer to journal, a pen to fake stitch (since I don’t sew) and some number stickers and Thickers finish it off.  (For a complete materials list see my personal blog post from today.)

I’d never tried this technique with a punch before and got brave (after all, it’s JUST a piece of paper!) but I will certainly be using it again!  SO I DARE YOU!!!  Try something new and different with YOUR punches!  If they turn out, be sure to share with us!  And remember, only a few more days to do your June challenges!  You have great chances to win!!!  Happy Punching!!!

 

A Card from a LO Sketch

 

Bev provided us with an awesome sketch for the June challenge. Even though the sketch was meant for a LO I adapted for my card. I created this card using Punches 913 and 907 along with my circle cutter. I adore the way 907 adds an ever so subtle touch to the corners of panels. I used the border feature of 913 to create the simple little tabs from the sketch. 

The first day of June and a new Challenge

As hard as it is to believe, today is the first day of June. That means so many things! For me it is Summer, kids home from school, maybe a beach trip or two.  Plus, I just love the longer hours each day of daylight.  Here at the Just Imagine Crafts/ Kreaxions blog, it means a new sketch challenge. 

1.  We are going to work with two sketches all month long.  You can pick either one or both.

2.  Your creation can be either a card or a layout.  You can use whatever theme you would like. 

3.  Use at least two different punches on your project.

Here is my card.  I used the second sketch.  I had my card completed when I realized that I should have used two punches but I did use the Fountain-922 Kreaxions 4-in-1 punch and the amazing Kreaxions circle cutter.

 
 
The patterned papers are all by BasicGrey.  The spray of flowers was cut out of one of the patterned paper pieces. 

 

 

I love what gorgeous corners my punches made.

A LO for Mom

The idea of a mom theme with butterflies is perfect for me because my mom loves butterflies.  So this LO came together really easily. I used Punch 907 to create a great detail along the bottom. I love the unique borders created by these punches that seem to be at first for corners.

A Small and Simple card with Doilies!

 

One of my favorite products to use on a card is a doily - and I love the way that I can use the 4 in 1 punches to make my own cardstock look like doilies!! For this card, I first started with a round card base. I used the star template and the 901 butterfly punch to make the center doily with a piece of cardstock. I wanted to stamp an image in the center of my doily, but it didn't show up well with the cardstock color, so I simply used my fabulous Kreaxions circle cutter and cut the inner circle out! It was so easy to find the center, since the star template has the hole center already marked for you to pierce your paper! That is such great attention to detail! For the outer doily ring (that I attached to the back of the card), I used my 901 Butterfly punch ,the positioning parts and the B plastic circle stencil for outer circle punching. I measured and cut a 15 cm circle with my circle cutter and using the B circle stencil, I marked the appropriate places for punching. I punched around the edge using my 901 butterfly punch and the 5.6cm positioning part. I really didn't like the very edge that the punch had left, but I did love the butterfly edge, so I used my circle cutter again to trim off the edges. That tool is just so versatile!!

Sunday's Inspirations

It's Barbara here and I am back today with my Sunday Inspirations post. Since spring has finally come, I wanted to use the beautiful butterfly punch on a card for you. Lately it seems I am always using that punch,and that's because its so pretty. My card design is a 5"X7" dark green card stock. I cut a 4" square piece of yellowish card stock and used punch 901 on the corners. I also used insert C in the punch.

              
Next I used that great circle cutter to cut a 3 3/4" and 3 1/2" circles. The circles were layered on the square. The circle cutter is a great and very versatile tool, allowing you to cut circles up to 6", perfect for your cards or even scrapbook pages.

Next I cut 2 - 2" squares. I centered each side of the square into the punch and using insert A,  I punched each side of the square.

Just to add some interest I trimmed off the corners.

 
I then attached these octagon shaped elements to the small panel on the card. The stamp set I chose to use, has musical notes in it and thought those notes would look great layered on the octagon shapes. I stamped and cut the bird and verse and layered those over the main area of the card and here is the finished card.

Butterflies everywhere

There is a challenge this month here at Kreaxions. Part of that challenge is to highlight butterflies and so I wanted to use the butterfly die by Kreaxions.  
I love this butterfly die, I loved it the moment I saw it used. It is a great size that is different then most punches.  I cut my butterfly from a piece of patterned paper.  All of the papers that I used for my layout are by BoBunny and the theme of this collection is butterflies.

 

I cut the butterfly out and then wrinkled it. This gave it more depth then just being flat.  I then rubbed some stamp pads over it so that the wrinkled areas were colored.  The colors helped tie the butterfly to my layout and the patterned paper colors. 

   
I also punched a border with the Daisy 4-in-1 punch, Punch 902.  These 4-in-1 punches are so neat because by just adding the different plates to the punch, you can get a variety of looks and that is all from just one punch.  I punched two sides of this black strip.  The little flowers were cut with the circle cutter.  This is the coolest circle cutter because you can quickly cut literally any size circle you want.

Marvelous Monday - Positives and Negatives

On this Marvelous Monday I’ll be showcasing positives and negatives in my punches.  I used Bev’s layout sketch with Butterfly Punch #604 and 4-in-1 Punch #307 on this project.  The corners were punched with #307 using Insert C and the border was punched using Insert A.  I used the Kreaxions Circle Cutter to create my circles.  The top butterfly border is the negatives. 

I used the punch and insert to measure between butterflies.  (See photo below)

Then I used the positive butterflies on the bottom border in between the punched flowers.  For my corners, I used the cut away pieces in the far corners of the layout to give it some definition.  All of the papers except the cardstock are from the fabulous “For the Record” collection by Echo Park.  For the Mother’s Day theme I used my new niece’s love of babies as my subject.

Sketch Challenge Card

At Kreaxions this month we have a fun sketch challenge with a card and a LO sketch. You have until the end of the month to share your take on the sketch with us. Check out more details here. I took on the card sketch challenge using the Butterfly Die, Punch 306, and Punch 907. I love that I can create so many different accents with these bunches. They aren't simply border punches or corner punches.
